In addition, he Using Quizlet, students can listen to the pronunciation of the words. Also, students can play games and take quizzes online. Students can also collaborate in this site. It is available at any time.
One of the projects students have to do in this unit is to create a poster using the vocabulary 3-1. The poster should illustrate one or more problems concerning the environment and suggest one or more ways that we can make a difference.
Glogster
Glogster is a wonderful tool for students to use their creativity and make their own posters. Students can use images from internet and videos to present the information. They can add all the information, images and videos in their posters. It is a great alternative.
During the second project for this unit, students need to research one Central America country that exports coffee. They need to research what does shade-grown coffee refer to? How is it different from sun-grown coffee. They need to research if they have implemented shade-grown coffee and present the information in class. This is a group project.
Prezi
Students can research inforrmation at home and add the information to the prezi at any time. They do not have to be together in the same room. In addition with the presentation, it is very easy to embed a video to enhance the presentation. This Web 2.0 app promotes collaboration and it is free.
For the reading component of the unit, students need to organize their ideas in order to understand the information. They will work in groups and every student will be responsible for a section of the reading. Then they will go to Exploratree and record the important points of their part. The information will be available for all the group members

Exploratree is a great Web2.0 app. Students can design their own graphic organizer or use an existing one. It is a free app. The best part of Exploratree is that students can collaborate with each other and they do not have to be in the same room to work together. The information is available to all of them at the same time. They do not have to make copies to have the information to study. It is available at any time.
